Teamwork - No 3 Commitment - Adele

TEAMWORK - COMMITMENT

For any endeavour to succeed, you need committed people to work at it.

There is no greater endeavour than fulfilling the Great Commission.

And the Great Commission will be carried out by committed followers of Christ

Commitment is not a gift, or talent, it is a character trait.

Some people find it easy, while others find it hard. But it is something everyone can develop.

One of the definitions of commitment, is to be willing to give time and energy to something you believe in. To dedicate yourself to someone or something.

Commitment to Christ means dedicating yourself to Him and to dedicate yourself to carrying out the Great Commission.

We can do that as individuals. But the Church is a vehicle that enables us to have a far greater impact. Together we are greater than the sum of our individual parts. And together we become a team of people working together for a common goal.

You don’t have to be a member of the Leadership Team you just need to be a member of the Church to be part of the team. And every member is vital. 1 Cor 12:12-27. We all have gifts and abilities that are needed for the local Church to fulfil the reason that God called it for. Rom 12:4-8, Eph 4:11-16, 1 Cor 12:1-7.

Every Church God has established, has a mandate to fulfil. That mandate can’t be fulfilled unless people are willing to commit themselves to carry it out. God calls people but He also calls Churches.

Commitment requires discipline. 1 Cor 9:27.

Discipline means doing the right things, at the right time, for the right reasons.

We need disciplined minds. Phil 4:8

We need disciplined emotions. Prov 16:32

We need disciplined actions. What you do, what you choose to do consistently, will bring success. Thinking and feeling the right things will only take you so far. You actually have to do something to accomplish your goals, individually and corporately. James 1:22, James 2:20-26.

Commitment requires tenacity.

Don’t give up.

Gal 6:9, 2 Chronicles 15:7, Heb 12:1-3, Phil 3:7-14, 2 Cor 4:1-11.

Commitment requires dependability.

Luke 9:62, 1 Cor 4:2, Luke 16:10, Matt 25:23.

If you are faithful, you can be depended on.

Commitment is essential for carrying out our Mission.
